2/28/2015: I've seen the news articles relating to Google's reversal of their decision and while it is generally good news, we might want to be cautious still. Google also mentioned in the same press release that they will instead be cracking down harder on illegal pornography. I'm no lawyer, but I do know that incest at least violates Blogger's content guidelines. Does that apply to illustrated incest? I don't know... but I wouldn't put it past these puritans that are trying to constantly censor the internet to target me anyway. I haven't gotten an email from Google yet about whether or not my blog is safe, but I'm just gonna keep on doing what I do here until I'm told I can't anymore... and then I'll go somewhere else and do it there. Thanks for all your support, guys.

I think it's safe to say, this is not good news. From what I understand, what's basically going to happen is either my explicit content or my entire blog will be made private. Meaning I and the people I designate as admins/subscribers of the blog are the only ones that can see any of it. I can't manage a community like that, this blog gets about 750 - 1,000 views on a normal day and has gone up to over 3,000 on days where I was supposed to be releasing new stuff. I'm not up to managing a community like that. Even if I were, I don't think Google wants me creating new comics. So it looks like I'm gonna have to leave blogger and find greener pastures. I'm open to suggestions that aren't Hentai-Foundry and tumblr.

ReplyDeleteNever heard of pixiv, I'll give it a look. I just cannot stand the design of tumblr. How commenting and posting is handled there just annoys me. Every blog I've visited on tumblr look like it was arranged by the king of the ADHD 13 year olds. I'm not blaming the bloggers, mind you, but rather tumblr itself.
ReplyDeleteThere are a lot of things wrong with tumblr and not just the communities it harbors.
Delete*The site is extremely script heavy. I could open hundreds of tabs on any website and be fine, but with tumblr. firefox ends up choking at around 50~ pages. This has made gathering large amounts of artworks extremely painful and to avoid Firefox crashes I have to resort to using tumblr image downloaders (which can occasionally miss a pic, and the artist might have made an offsite link to a hire rez/uncensored version of a pic and you wouldn't know).
*You will have to tag all your art. Biggest problem I see are artists who reblog shit no one cares on their art blog and NOT tag their art. It is horrendous to slog through those places JUST to find any art. And combined with the previous problem, you could spend hours digging and might even miss some. Some artists are doing better by placing their reblogs onto another tumblr and they are separating their NSFW to another tumblr. Course now these artists have to manage three tumblrs at once.
*Images are automatically resized/fucked with. Good luck getting a fullsize .gif animation. Chances are you just end up with a .jpg and have to settle for the animated thumbnail. Don't forget about trying to get fullsize images of pictures is annoying too. I have seen artists forced to use imgur and gyfcat to post their works onto tumblr (worst part is the fact people will probably miss these links and download/spread the shitty resized on tumblr)
*Tumblrs tagged as NSFW won't allow others to find you through tumblr. You will have to use google search to find your tumblr.
You're screwed. Most artists move to a personal website at this point.

What the hell does anyone care what drawings are being shared on the web? I don't see how it affects anyone who doesn't like it. It's not like it's illegal or anything. Okay, I'm gonna stop myself there, 'cause I could seriously go on all day about this. Anyway, good luck finding a new home and here's hoping no one takes that one away.

Your best bet might be Pixiv. People will have to create an account and login for explicit content, but that site has boomed in popularity and loads of artists are making accounts there. Only thing is that I don't know if you can post flash there. You can post animations there, but animation is designed weirdly on there as some sort of anti-download measure (it can be bypassed, but you end up with a zip file with each individual frame and you would have to rebuild the animation yourself). You might just need to link your flash animations onto SWFchan (more on that below).
ReplyDeleteThere is Soup.io .it is like tumblr, but mostly just for sharing media. Tumblr artists are starting to use Soup.io fo post their works that are too hot for tumblr. Getting fullsize images from there is easier than tumblr as well.
There are those furry websites that you could use to post your works.

The positive is that these sites won't care about your content and I think all of them allow multimedia files (well, Furaffinity might not like any explicit underage character drawings, inkbunny became the alternative for people who make these [not that your characters look too young, just a heads up if your worried about other people thinking so]).
The bad is that you won't attract a lot of people from the website since you don't make furry content and you might not get too many people outside these websites due to being associated with furrys.
SWFchan.org will allow you to post your flashes and they will be archived on swfchan.com . They also implemented a new system where people can make their own albums of flash so you could create one of those, link it to all your flashes, and then link people that album from where ever you are going to post.

I know there's a lot of restrictions out there now, but don't stop what you're doing, I admire your artwork, anyone who reads hentai or watches it knows that your art style is unique. there's a lot of haters out there, but there's also tons of silent supporters who wishes that you continue what you're doing.
